In Rotation: Julia Deckman

Our second artist In Rotation is local favorite, Julia Deckman! Julia Deckman is a contemporary visual artist whose work centers on the expressive potential of color. Based in Charleston, she holds a BS in Humanities & Social Sciences from the College of Charleston (2007). Her practice spans representational and abstract painting, unified by an intuitive exploration of color, form, and composition.

Named the 2019 Lowcountry Artist of the Year, Deckman has exhibited in numerous solo and group exhibitions throughout the United States.

Her work has been featured in Luxe Interiors + Design, Gray Benko’s Happy to be Home, House & Garden UK, Charleston Living, and Charleston Home & Design. She is the recipient of a Lowcountry Quarterly Artist Grant (2022) and two South Carolina Arts Commission Project Grants (2023, 2024).

Julia Works from her home studio in Riverland Terrace, and accepts a limited number of commissions and custom design projects.
