Leah’s FALL ROUTINE,The NON-NEGOTIABLES

Double down on an am skincare routine

To stay moisturized as the weather cools down, I use a LED red & blue light mask, double cleanse, apply a vitamin c serum & moisturizer w spf (+ mix in these glow drops with added skincare benefits) every morning.

Get morning sunlight & steps within an hour to hour & a half of waking

I try to walk outside & get sun exposure for at least 15-20 minutes every morning to naturally boost serotonin levels/mood/feelings of wellbeing as well as promote better sleep & improved energy by setting my circadian clock.

Have a protein-packed, nutritious breakfast before drinking matcha/coffee & working out in the morning

I usually prepare overnight oats each night by refrigerating a glass gar filled with organic gluten-free oats, chia seeds, Greek yogurt or a non-dairy alternative like Harmless Harvest, berries, peanut or almond butter, & almond milk; I top  that mixture with granola & local honey or jam in the morning. I feel energized & satiated throughout the day when I include 20+ grams of protein, healthy fats & complex carbs in every meal, especially my first of the day!

Incorporate steps & low-impact movement into everyday lifestyle

I try to walk rather than drive around town as much as possible (especially with the fresh air & cooler weather that fall brings), habit stack moving my body while answering emails/texts or studying/working & love to suggest active “dates” with friends such as walking to a coffee shop/bakery to catch up or taking a fitness class together.

Carve out time in the calendar & stay consistent with a workout routine

I think cementing an effective fitness regimen is dependent on finding exercise you enjoy & will show up for day after day. Sustainability & planning is the key to success; I take out my planner every Sunday to block out time to move my body & take classes - just like I do any other appointment or commitment!

Stick to a wind down/sleep routine

I like to stretch my body, put my legs up on the wall for lymphatic drainage purposes & improved circulation, read or write/journal, & reflect on my day before going to bed. I try to stay off my phone & turn off any screens 30 minutes to an hour before sleeping to promote melatonin production & set myself up for a night of deep, proper rest.
